Three kinds of Windows Phone 7, coming soon

Microsoft has decided on three models or chassis for its new OS. Chassis 1 is basically what we’ve seen so far. It will be a large touchscreen-only device with a 1GHz processor and is slated for release around the 2010 holiday season.

Chassis 2 will include slide-out QWERTY keyboards reminiscent of Windows Mobile devices, which is particularly good for folks who still want the clickety-clack of physical keys. But Chassis 3 is still a mystery, so let your imagination free. Will it be a slider? Candybar?

Japan's KDDI au to offer Android and Windows Mobile smartphones starting June

Finally Japan's second largest operator, KDDI, ready to enter smartphone market this year. After only unveiling one Windows Mobile phone last year, KDDI (with its phone network, au) will offer Android and Windows Mobile phones on June at the earliest.

Although the press release (Japanese) isn't very clear mentioning what model and vendor that will be involved, it should be a great step by this CDMA operator to finally realize the potential of smartphone niche in the future.

These Android phones, however, will fully backed by Google with its Android Market. In addition, KDDI will unveil its own Android application store.
