Indosat to Support Operator Billing on BlackBerry App World

Indosatbbappworld

Research In Motion (RIM) and Indosat today announced an operator billing option for Indosat’s BlackBerry® customers that purchase apps on BlackBerry® App World™.

Operator billing will allow Indosat’s BlackBerry customers to conveniently and securely purchase apps from BlackBerry App World and charge the purchases directly to their Indosat bill. Customers will also be able to charge in-app purchases to their Indosat bill, which allows for the purchase of digital goods, such as additional content or more levels to a game, to be made without interrupting the application experience.

BlackBerry ID, which provides customers with a secure device-independent user identification (ID) for use with BlackBerry App World (and other BlackBerry services), enables this new payment option in addition to allowing customers to seamlessly transfer their personal library of free and purchased apps when they switch to a new BlackBerry® smartphone. Furthermore, BlackBerry ID requires the user to enter their password when making a purchase, providing an added layer of security that can help protect a user from unauthorized purchases in the event their smartphone is lost or stolen.

Nokia is launching WeMeet application in India, this is a location aware application (works with cellid) that enables users to create chat groups and buy/sell products using SMS. WeMeet works with S40 and S60 phones as well (SMS based app that works on low-cost devices). The service is launched by Nokia’s Research Center.

To use We Meet, all you have to do is download and install the Java client on your mobile phone, which can be run on any S40 or S60 phone and get started right away. You can create groups and start adding contacts to the relevant groups.

If you are using the Java client, your location information will be broadcasted along with the SMSes.The software “threads” the messages in chronological order, making it easy to follow the conversation. The effect is something like an instant messaging conversation, but at the fraction of the cost and on devices with no data plans.

Telkomsel brings Google Translate via SMS

Unintentionally I just got the information via SMS after reload my simPATI numbers that I use. That SMS content says there is Google Translate service is now accessible via SMS.

According to information, we can translate Bahasa Indonesia and translate to English as default by typing a sentence or word in Bahasa Indonesia and send through sms to 4664. Translations results will be sent via SMS. If you read this 4664 is GOOG, perhaps short for Google.

For other language dictionaries are also available, but we must enter the language code before writing the sentence that we wish to translate, as for the language codes currently available are as follows:
EN: English
NL: Dutch
FR: French
DE: Germany
IT: Italian
PT: Portuguese
ES: Spanish

Example usage:
DE: Aku Cinta Padamu
Then send to 4664 to get the translation in German language.

The SMS rates are Rp. 100/SMS, I think this is a good step fom Google to provide SMS Online Dictionary. Looks like this new service only available on Telkomsel in Indonesia. If there is among readers who know any operators in Indonesia who have supported this service, please inform to us
