So you just got your brand new phone, the Nexus One, it's slick, it feels great in your hand, the screen is awesome, it's fast, but wait.. you get a constant switch between GPRS and 3G? or even no GPRS at all??
Well no worries, we got some workaround on how to.. well.. "fix" it, here's how (you can see the image for these steps from the thumbnail at the end of the post)
Step 1
Go to your phone dialer, and dial *#*#4636#*#*, after you hit the last asterisk, your phone's going into testing mode.
Step 2
Now you're in testing mode, tap on the "Phone Infomation"
Step 3
Scroll to the bottom until you find the "Set preferred network type" label. Now tap to the field that shows you your current network (mine said, WCDMA preferred).
Step 4
Now, change it to "WCDMA Only". This will force your Nexus One to always connected to 3G connection.
I know its a very forceful way to solve the Nexus One 3G problem, but this works very well!
But if you don't like that method, there's some other way though. Peeps from
jkOnTheRun got a different rundown,
first you go to the Settings, went to "Wireless & Networks". Tap on the "Mobile Networks" option, next go to "Network Operators" section. After you do this, your Nexus One will search for a compatible GSM networks in the area, and you shall see a couple of choices including a choice to Select Automatically, select that option and your phone should say "Registered on network", and that's it. After you followed these steps, your Nexus One shall not have a problem connecting to the 3G network.
After having a look at both of those "temporary fix", I'm pretty sure there's a problem with the software not on the hardware. If this is proven to be a software issue (which I highly hope so), then we can only expect for Google to release a proper fix for this problem.
