Rumor: HTC Ace the next Android phone from HTC

We've got a rumor about HTC Sabor from HTC before but it seems they preparing another next Android phone which called HTC Ace. According some rumors, HTC Ace will have Android 3.0, 4.3-inch screen, 1.5 GHz processor, 8 MP camera and 1.3 MP front facing camera, better battery performance and record 1080p HD video.

The 1080p HD recording sound quality is much better than the record 720p. But it seems this new Android 3.0 device from HTC will available in the end of this year. HTC will remove the Sense UI but another custom UI will available in this device. And 2GHz processor is not an impossible but HTC Ace using 1.5Ghz rather than 2Ghz processor, it's nice.

HTC said, that the HTC Ace will have a GSM version of the EVO, and when you lay side-by-side with HTC EVO, the specs are not much different. Recording capabilities, processor, and the type of display is the differentiation.

Production problems force HTC to switch from AMOLED to LCD

HTC's decision to go with AMOLED screens for its premium Android phones may not have been a prudent one. Samsung, which holds somewhat of a production monopoly on AMOLED or Super AMOLED screens, is having difficulties in churning out the required parts and as a result is limiting the majority of the screens to its own Galaxy S phones according to Electronista.

HTC and other premium Android phone makers wishing to use AMOLED are being forced to either delay their phone productions or switch to TFT LCD screens. HTC's next batch of Nexus One phones as well as the Desire and the Incredible are already being produced with TFT LCD screens instead of AMOLED.

This problem is unlikely to be solved until Samsung upgrades its production facilities which won't be finished until July 2011. In the meantime, AMOLED screens will not grace many Android or any other phones not carrying the Samsung brand.

AMOLED screen technology is already under fire for its weakness under direct sunlight as you can see here (no it doesn't evaporate or sparkle, you just can't read anything on it) but Samsung is on its way to correcting that by producing Super AMOLED screens which brings readability closer to LCD level.

Android Community received confirmation from HTC that the company is suffering the effects from the screen production issues but will continue to use AMOLED whenever possible. It also said that it will use Sony's Super TFT display to alleviate the problems. This technology is more publicly known as In-plane switching (IPS), the same kind used by Apple on its computers and mobile devices.

HTC Desire will hit Malaysia tomorrow via Maxis

Malaysia's Maxis will bring the current hype HTC Desire in the market starting tomorrow. Informed via its official Twitter account, HTC Desire will be available at 28 Maxis Centre nationwide and selected Maxis exclusive partners. The subsidized price is RM1,499 (US$452) with contract and either 500MB, 1.5GB, or 3GB data plan, or RM2,199 (US$663) without contract.

HTC Desire will be offered with Android OS 2.1, with OS2.2 (Froyo) update in coming months. Beside that, it sports 3.7 inch AMOLED touchscreen, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 5 megapixels camera, and Flash Lite (do not confused it with Flash Player 10.1 that will be available for Froyo).

From what I perceive, seems the Desire is quite desire-able there. Previously, it has already hit Singapore and soon all over Southeast Asia.

HTC Legend, HD Mini, and Smart available this May in Indonesia

Something we missed over the week, HTC officially announced the availability of HTC Legend, HTC HD Mini, and HTC Smart in Indonesia. The designated timing is end of May. According to the press release, the suggested retail price for those phones are IDR 5,750,000 (US$621), IDR 5,150,000 (US$556), and IDR 2,250,000 (US$243), respectively. The phones will be presented in official reseller, but there's no word about bundling package with operator as previously rumored

HTC Legend, the successor of infamous HTC Hero, is formed with aluminum unibody design. Inside, we will find Android OS 2.1 with new Sense UI, AMOLED HVGA 3.2 inch screen, and optical joystick. HTC HD Mini, midget version of beast HD2, is a Windows Mobile phone. HD Mini sports 3.2 inch screen, 5 megapixels camera, and most modern smartphone has. Both Legend and HD Mini package will be accompanied with 2GB microSD card.

HTC Smart, however, is a new breed, powered by BREW Mobile Platform (BREW MP) -- a proprietary system by Qualcomm. HTC Smart is an affordable mid-to-low cost solution of having smartphone. Yet, new mobile platform may raise question about app availability.

In the same time, HTC Desire is launched in Singapore. Hopefully will arrive in Indonesia sometimes next month.
