Nexus S launched in Malaysia and Singapore

Nexus_s

Google's Nexus S, the successor to last year's Nexus One, is now available for purchase in Singapore and Malaysia. Samsung Asia and Malaysia's Maxis Communications made the announcements earlier today separately in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.

Irene Ng, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Samsung Asia said in a statement, "Samsung is pleased to deliver the best Android smartphone experience for consumers. The Nexus S is a smartphone that combines superior functionality and a stunning user-experience that will appeal to the increasingly connected Singapore consumers and meet their demand for entertainment and functionality on the go."

At a separate Google event in Jakarta earlier this week, Google PR Therese Lim explained that the Nexus S is Samsung's device and therefore Google does not control its distribution. Google is taking a very different approach for the Nexus S to that of the Nexus One which was made available in very limited markets.

For some reason, the Southeast Asian Nexus S does not feature Super AMOLED screens, instead, it uses Super LCD screens. Additionally, despite what the brochures said at the Maxis launch, the press release from Samsung made no mention of Near Field Communication (NFC), the technology that allows device owners to for example, make payments directly from their mobile devices at retail outlets. This technology is present in the US edition of the phone.

Outright price for the Gingerbread powered Nexus S in Singapore is S$ 828 while in Malaysia it's RM 2499 or RM 1499 with 24 month contract.

Playstation Phone is real and its coming in 2011

Engadgetpspphone7
Back in August, there's a rumor that Sony Ericsson is working on a gaming device that will run the newest Android version, Gingerbread. At that time, it was only a rumor with a photoshoped picture. Until today.. readers, above is the real picture of the Playstation Phone, reported by Engadget. The device will be equipped with a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 processor, a 512MB of RAM, 1GB of ROM and also a screen size around 3.7 to 4.1 inches. It will also have a slide out dedicated gaming buttons and a shoulder buttons, just like you saw in PSP Go. If you take a closer look, it appears that there were also a front facing camera, possibly for a video call or maybe a MotionEye camera.

Along with the Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), the Playstation Phone might also shipped with a custom market place (PSN?) so that users can buy Playstation games from it. We still don't know when the phone will be released or officially announced, but you'll probably have to wait until around 2011.

Check out more pictures from Engadget.

HTC will remove the Sense UI but another custom UI will available in this device. And 2GHz processor is not an impossible but HTC Ace using 1.5Ghz rather than 2Ghz processor, it's nice.

HTC said, that the HTC Ace will have a GSM version of the EVO, and when you lay side-by-side with HTC EVO, the specs are not much different. Recording capabilities, processor, and the type of display is the differentiation.

After "Froyo", the next Android update is likely to be codenamed "Gingerbread"

Gingerbread-man

We all know Google is crazy with these "sweet" stuffs, the first Android update is called "Cupcake", then we have "Donut", then "Eclair", after that there's been a rumor about "Flan" which quickly gets replaced with "Froyo". But now before we could even "taste" the "Froyo", there has been a buzz about the next Android version, codenamed "Gingerbread".

Android kernel developer Brian Sweetland said, the next major build after "Froyo" will be known as "Gingerbread".

This week we’re finalizing our move to 2.6.32 for the Android “Froyo” release, and we’ll likely be on .33 or .34 for “Gingerbread”.

So what kind of sweets that comes with a letter 'H'?
