Google's Nexus One to challenge RIM's Blackberry with its enterprise edition?

Last Friday at CES, Google VP of Engineering Andy Rubin has indicated that the next version of the Nexus One "Superphone" will be an enterprise edition for business users. The phone it self will probably have a longer battery life and also a better physical keyboard.

Rubin have been very secretive about this matter though, as he won't tell us anything about the other details like the release date, what version of Android will it be running, etc. He only said that, The Nexus One is the first in a series, or "program", which could include some other new devices, including the enterprise edition of the Nexus One.

We don't know the price, specs, what form factor will it use or a release date for the phone yet, but we know two things for now,
One, the Nexus One won't be alone in the Google Store for long and Two, RIM's Blackberry could face another competition from Google's Android phone on business smartphone war.

Video demo of Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 at CES 2010

Let's put aside the Nexus One hype for awhile and make way for the Sony Ericsson X10. Bigger screen size, fast processor, possibly a better camera, some pretty decent custom Android UI, the Sony Ericsson X10 is one of the most powerful Android phone along with the Nexus One & Motorola Droid and IntoMobile got their video scoop on this monster at CES 2010.

Before making an appearance at CES 2010, there has been a preview about the X10 a couple of months ago. At that time the interface is very choppy, bugs is everywhere, it's pretty much unusable. Sony claims that the software hasn't been optimized yet and promised the interface will have a significant improvement in months to come. Now at CES 2010, Sony got a chance to show us the much more optimized device, and even though I'm still seeing a couple of lag, the device is a lot more usable than the previous one.

The key features of the X10, the Timescape & Mediascape is running very well, a bit choppy at times but the animation does looks good, and after a bit of a tweak here and there, I'm pretty sure the X10 are set to challenge the Nexus One.

At the beginning of the video, there's something like a news ticker, which actually shows you the hardware specification for the X10. There's nothing surprising about it though, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, a 4" WVGA display, an 8 megapixel camera, but wait.. Android 2.0?? Now that is new, I guess with the launch of Android 2.0 and 2.1 on Motorola Droid & Nexus One, has made Sony take a very good move by upgrading from Android 1.6 to Android 2.0, nice!

Palm to challenge Apple on cell-phone gaming war

iPhone might be the best cell-phone gaming device that's available today, but that's about to change. Yesterday at CES, Palm has just made a big announcement. The company just entered the cell-phone 3D-gaming war by partnering with some of the big boys developer, including EA Mobile, Gameloft, Glu Mobile and Laminar Reasearch.

Palm also has given those selected developers an early access to the Palm webOS PDK (Plugin Development Kit), which made immersive 3D-gaming possible and thanks to this, now every Palm users will be able to enjoy Need for Speed and The Sims 3 (and some other titles) that were presented by EA Mobile on their Palm Pre or Palm Pixi. Engadget's editor Joshua Topolsky, was having a good time when playing the NFS on the Palm Pre Plus and from what I saw on that video, the Palm Pre Plus ran the game pretty good & smooth :)

So what are the 3D games that's available now for Palm Pre (webOS 1.3.5)? Here's the list,
  • Need for Speed Undercover (EA Mobile)
  • The Sims 3 (EA Mobile)
  • Monopoly (EA Mobile)
  • Ashpalt 5: Elite Racing (Gameloft)
  • Let's Golf! (Gameloft)
  • Glyder 2 (Glu Mobile)
  • X-Plane (Laminar Research)

Motorola does a BACKFLIP at CES, Android 2.1 is on the way and Flash 10.1 integration for Motorola DROID

motobackfilp

Motorola just announced the Motorola BACKFLIP at CES. My first impression about this thing is.. it's weird. The form factor is really weird, it will have a backwards-folding, outward-facing keyboard, a touchpad on the BACK of the screen. But other than that, the BACKFLIP offers a pretty decent hardware, it's probably going to use the same processor as the CLIQ, which is a 528MHz, 3G Connectivity, Wi-Fi, a 5 megapixel camera and of course the MOTOBLUR UI.

At CES, Motorola also revealed some additional information for current Motorola Android owners:
  • All Motorola Android handsets, including the CLIQ, will received an Android 2.1 update.
  • Remember Flash 10.1 integration on the Nexus One? Motorola is working on it, and its going to be optimized for the DROID's chipset.
  • Motorola DROID will receive a second maintenance update in the near future
Here's a hands-on video of Motorola BACKFLIP,
