So after Adobe announced its first beta back in July, AIR is officially makes it debut in Android Market. Even though the app can be downloaded via Android Market, sadly it will only available for device with Android 2.2 (Froyo.) Also, what you need to keep it in mind, that this is not an AIR app, its just a runtime app to.. well, run AIR application.

I don't know if you can install the desktop AIR application, but currently you can download a couple of AIR apps from Android Market such as, Qrossfire, Jacks or Meteor Storm. In the future, we can expect a lot more of Android Applications (especially games) build with AIR. You could check more details about this from Adobe Labs.

Flash Player on the Nexus One, Android 2.2 release is imminent?

Adobe evangelist, Ryan Stewart has teased us with a new video showing off the latest version of Flash 10.1 on his Nexus One. He showed us about 6 websites that uses a pretty heavy flash usage and from that video, we could tell that, even though there are some noticeable lag, overall the performance is really good, the animation works really well, the video is also played on an acceptable frame rate.

If you watched the whole video, you'll notice that there's a little surprise at the end of the video. Presumably a glimpse of a new home screen (notice the new Google Search bar, also the new launcher at the bottom of the screen). So it seems that the release of Android 2.2 a.k.a Froyo is imminent, probably will be unveiled at the Google I/O on 19th of May? We'll just have to wait and see.

Flash 10.1 on Android looks promising, may not hog your battery

Adobe Flash evangelist Mark Doherty has posted a video about the performance of Flash 10.1 on the Nexus One. On that video, Doherty showed us that even though the Nexus One runs an approximately a 17 minutes of flash video, the battery performance seems pretty good. The video it self was played straight from the browser via the full YouTube site.

He also mentions that Adobe in-house tests has seen three hours of H.264 playback over Wi-Fi.

Note: The Nexus One does not have Flash Player by default, but it will be available for download from their website when Adobe releases it in the future.
