Try Gameloft HD games for free on your Android device

One of my biggest gripe over my Nexus One is the lack of quality games in Android Market. Sure they have a couple of good games in there, but if you're going to compare those games to those in Apple's App Store, then you'll definitely feel the gap there, heck even Windows Phone 7 have some quality games underway!

Android actually have some quality games too, some of them can be found in Android Market and some of them.. can't. Gameloft games are a good example on this case. Gameloft is one of the big boys when it comes to mobile gaming experience, they have lots of great games on their line up. Games like, Avatar, N.O.V.A, Asphalt 5, Dungeon Hunter are some fair example to justify their existence in mobile gaming industry. Gameloft also made those games for Android version too, but for some unknown reason, they refuse to put those games in Android Market and opted to put it in their own store. You can buy the game using a credit card on their website, and after that, Gameloft will send you a text message about how to install the game.

Recently today, Gameloft is now offering Android owners to try their games before buying it. The games are on HD quality, it means that you can only play this game on Android device that supports HD resolution display (eg. Nexus One, EVO 4G, Droid X, Galaxy S.) So if you own one of the supported Android phone, you may go to the website either from your Android device or from PC to start downloading the game. A couple of quality games like N.O.V.A, Asphalt 5, Hero of Sparta, Let's Golf! and Dungeon Hunter are available to download. So what are you waiting for? Hit that link to try it yourself.

Microsoft showcases cross-platform game on Xbox, Windows and Windows Phone 7

When we talk about mobile gaming device, our brain will definitely think about Sony PSP, Nintendo DSi and of course the Apple iPhone/iPod touch. Seeing how mobile gaming industry has grown in the past couple of years, it seems that Microsoft couldn't help them self to join the party. Eric Rudder, Microsoft's Senior Vice President of Technical Strategy was recently showcased the potential to unify your favorite games across all of your Microsoft-themed devices. He demoed a single Indiana Jones game that can run on Windows, Xbox 360 and also the Windows Phone 7 series devices.

Eric also said that developing on those three platform is pretty simple, the developers first create the game in Visual Studio, and then they can share almost 90 percent of its code across the three other platforms. But where the other 10 percent goes? It'll go to the unique code for each other platform, for example: Keyboard and Mouse support on Windows, Gamepad support on Xbox 360 and Touch panel plus the Accelerometer support on the Windows Phone series. Some other cool feature is, you can share your save game across those three platform, say you first play the game on your Xbox, you save the game and then you can continue the game on the road using your Windows Phone device!

Space Impact, free games for Nokia N97 (Mini) user

We have not just iPhone users that can play games with motion sensor, but users of the Nokia should feel happy with the presence of Space Impact games which controled using a digital compass sensor.

Which makes interesting, this game was made free for Nokia N97 and N97 mini user, Space Impact - Meteor Shield is now available on Ovi Store, which was built using a digital compass sensor to control the game. Hold the device upright, with the screen parallel to the ground, you control tower to turn the phone on the vertical axis, as if you were sitting in the hot seat spinning in place

Need for Speed Shift for BlackBerry, what do you think?

One progress that has been made by BlackBerry, especially Storm2, is the capability of running "heavy" games, thanks to better graphic card it has. Well, how good is the quality? One person from EA Mobile was demoed the Need for Speed Shift gaming experience at MWC10.

My take, it's obviously better than other BlackBerry games, yet the polygon isn't smooth enough and there's some lags here and there (take notice on the sand watch that keeps showing occasionally). Well, if you think it's good enough and you are living in USA, Canada, and Japan, feel free to buy this game (make sure it's version 1.1) from App World for US$6.99.

Play SNES games on your Nokia N900 with PS3 Sixaxis controller

Oh, how I love the Nokia N900, that device is always surprise me. After we saw it dual-booting Android & Maemo, it surprises us by running a MacOS, ok it slow as snail, but its an awesome stuff for every geek out there. Now it has more surprises for us, playing a SNES game with SNES emulator on Nokia N900 is pretty cool, but playing a SNES game with SNES emulator on your N900 using a PS3 controller on a big screen? now that is awesome!

Grand Theft Auto (GTA): Chinatown Wars is now available for iPhone and iPod touch

GTA: Chinatown Wars was made by Rockstar Leeds and Rockstar North, released a year ago for Nintendo DS and Sony PSP. And get good reviews. This title is the first of which in the GTA franchise-transportation for the iPhone and iPod touch.

Please remember, this game direct transportation from the game that was designed for the DS and PSP. "Joystick" is displayed on the iPhone / iPod screen, can be disturbing. But this game is very cheap enough, you can get this game for only US$ 9,99

GTA: Chinatown Wars can be downloaded at the App Store, compatible with the iPhone or iPod touch with OS 3.1.2 or higher.

Palm to challenge Apple on cell-phone gaming war

iPhone might be the best cell-phone gaming device that's available today, but that's about to change. Yesterday at CES, Palm has just made a big announcement. The company just entered the cell-phone 3D-gaming war by partnering with some of the big boys developer, including EA Mobile, Gameloft, Glu Mobile and Laminar Reasearch.

Palm also has given those selected developers an early access to the Palm webOS PDK (Plugin Development Kit), which made immersive 3D-gaming possible and thanks to this, now every Palm users will be able to enjoy Need for Speed and The Sims 3 (and some other titles) that were presented by EA Mobile on their Palm Pre or Palm Pixi. Engadget's editor Joshua Topolsky, was having a good time when playing the NFS on the Palm Pre Plus and from what I saw on that video, the Palm Pre Plus ran the game pretty good & smooth :)

So what are the 3D games that's available now for Palm Pre (webOS 1.3.5)? Here's the list,

  • Monopoly (EA Mobile)

iPhone's games hit the rock, need double check from Korea authority

 

This time, iPhone no longer rules the world. Korea authority, country which just launched iPhone last November, asks each game categorized into "entertainment" section to be rated and approved by its Game Rating Board [link in Korean]. Korea Herald reported that this step is taken due concern about possible distribution of violent and sexual content. Unfortunately, Apple isn't ready yet to give up.

Currently Apple removes the gaming section from Korea's App Store, although Korean iPhone users are still able to download it from other countries' App Store. As for record, among 100 popular application in entertainment category, 30 game apps haven't got approval from the rating board. The usual game rating in Korea consists of 4 categories, All (Everyone), 12+, 15+, and Teenage Restriction (18+).

After three weeks of distribution, currently there are around 150,000 iPhone users in Korea. It's not a surprise that gaming category are popular. We know that lot of professional gamers are coming from this country. While this actually an appropriate step taken by the local authority, looks like Apple is licking its own tongue, referring to its policy on "censorship process" for every app submitted to App Store.

We need example, Steve. Don't do any double standard if you still want to have healthy profitable business. Until now, Apple representative in Korea declines to make any comment.
