Plurk is now available on BlackBerry

Once popular social network Plurk can now be enjoyed from your own BlackBerry. Made by iScreen, the app is available in both English and Chinese from App World. Funny that the supported countries are all over the world, except Taiwan -- Plurk original country -- which makes us wondering if this app is actually not officially affiliated. Plurk used to have avid supporters in Asia region, thanks to its timeline uniqueness, but fail to maintain its users due to lack of API openness. Try the app now and let us know what do you think.

RIM buys DataViz, makers of Documents to Go

Popular mobile office software maker DataViz has apparently been acquired by Research In Motion according to Crackberry.com. Neither company has announced it but reportedly RIM paid $50 million cash for the deal.

The BlackBerry news site is saying that DataViz employees have been changing their profiles on LinkedIn from DataViz to RIM and that the deal is small enough for RIM to keep its details private.

Until now, despite its long held strong presence in the enterprise market, RIM has not had its own office solution. This gives them an easy solution and an additional leverage when pushing their Enterprise Server to potential clients given the inroads made by Apple and Google recently.

What this means for other platforms such as PalmOS, Windows Mobile, Maemo, iOS and Android is unclear but apparently they have announced that they will cease development of Documents to Go for webOS. It will not be a surprise if they do the same for other platforms as well but it's probably smarter to continue to do so.
